Welcome to the sixth edition of console.log(weekly), my weekly update on my Talent Programme minor. The past 2 weeks marked a real turning point, the scope is officially confirmed, the CMS has been rebuilt from the ground up, and the first students have started providing proof-of-concept data for the platform.
What I did last week
After meeting with the client we came to two clear conclusions. First, we want to showcase real-life CMD projects in a proof of concept. Second, some things needed to change. With those two facts in mind, it was obvious where to start, the CMS. Since we replaced the AR component with short-form video, the CMS had to evolve to support that new direction and offer a smoother user experience. After a few focused programming sessions and a bit of user testing, the rebuilt CMS was finally ready to share.
What I did this week
After a meeting with professionals we discovered a third stakeholder category, recruiters. Recruiters mentioned they would much rather see the iterative process with ups and downs then just a portfolio with end results. The sole reason in person performance evaluations exits are because you cant verify the iterative process of a project when seeing just the end result. As a response to this I created a stakeholder analysis and looked at changes to the design we needed to implement, a mayor change is to make an option to display content private or public to provide a way to be able to show your work to a recruiter while still providing a safe space for students
Some feedback on myself
This change was a much needed change wich was a ambitious but necessary route to walk, in the end I am happy with the result and proud that I made the choice I made.
The next 2 weeks
The next 2 weeks I am out of office, I will still be working sometimes but development will be on the back burner for a while. Mostly getting things ready for a final sprint to implement all the features in time.
